§ 2.02. Qualifications for mayor and councilmen.

  • To be eligible for the office of mayor or councilman, elected or appointed, a person must be at least 21 years of age, and must meet the requirements of a qualified voter of said city, as prescribed by state law, and must have been a bona fide resident of the City of Thomson for at least one year next preceding the election in which he offers as a candidate; provided, however, that beginning with the election of councilmen in 1978 and continuing thereafter, a candidate for councilman shall have been a resident of the district from which he offers as a candidate for a period of at least 60 days prior to the date on which he officially qualifies as a candidate.
