§ 2.07. Mayor pro tem.

  • At the first regular meeting, and after the newly elected councilmen have taken office following each regular election, the council shall elect from its membership a mayor pro tem for a term of two years. Upon the council's failure to elect a mayor pro tem at said first regular meeting, the incumbent councilman who received the highest number of votes, when last elected, shall be declared mayor pro tem. The mayor pro tem shall perform the duties of the mayor during his absence from the city or his disability.
