§ 5-3. Permit fees; inspections.

  • (a)

    The permit fee schedule for construction within the city shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Single-family permit fee schedule:

    Building $0.04 per square feet of heated space
    Mobile home $20.00
    Electrical Same as subsection (2)b.
    Mechanical Same as subsection (2)c.
    Plumbing Same as subsection (2)d.

     

    (2)

    Commercial, industrial, multi-family, public and accessory permit fees schedule:

    a.

    Building:

    $    100.00 and less No fee, unless inspection required in which case a $5.00 fee for each inspection shall be charged.
         101.00 to $  2,000.00 $5.00 per thousand or fraction thereof.
       2,001.00 to   15,000.00 $10.00 for the first $2,000.00 plus $3.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $15,000.00.
      15,001.00 to   50,000.00 $49.00 for the first $15,000.00 plus $2.50 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $50.000.00.
      50,001.00 to  100,000.00 $136.50 for the first $50,000.00 plus $2.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $100,000.00.
     100,001.00 to  500,000.00 $236.50 for the first $100,000.00 plus $1.25 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $500,000.00.
     500,001.00 and up $736.50 for the first $500,000.00 plus $0.75 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof.

    Electrical permit fees schedule:

    Minimum permit fee $    5.00

    For each additional $1,000.00 of valuation for installing heating, ventilation, duct, air conditioning, refrigeration systems      2.00

    e.

    Reinspection fee schedule: If it is necessary to make a reinspection for a required building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing inspection because of improper work, the contractor responsible shall pay a reinspection fee of $5.00. Where the adopted codes of section 5-1 require certain permit fees the provisions of this section shall prevail over the fees to be charged pursuant to the adopted codes. Where there is no permit fee addressed in this section, the fees adopted and the approved codes shall be the fee schedule followed.

    (b)

    Whenever it is necessary to make an inspection to enforce any of the provisions of the codes adopted by section 5-1, or whenever the building inspector has reasonable cause to believe that there exist any building or upon any premises any condition or code violation which makes such building or premises unsafe, dangerous or hazardous, the building official inspector may enter such building or premises at all reasonable times to inspect the same or to perform any duty imposed upon said official by the adopted codes, provided that if such building or premises is occupied, he shall first present proper credentials and request entry if such does appear. If such building or premises are unoccupied, he shall first make reasonable effort to locate the owner or other persons having charge or control of the building or premises and request entry. If such entry is refused, the building official inspector shall have recourse to every remedy provided by law to secure the entry. If during the inspection of a building, the building or any of the building systems, in whole or in part, constitute a danger to human life or a hazard to health or safety, the building official inspector shall issue such notice or order to remove or remedy the condition.

    (c)

    Any violation of any of the codes adopted in section 5-1 or provisions of this section shall subject the violator to such penalty as permitted by law.

    (d)

    The City of Thomson shall set and charge such permit fees as adopted by the City of Thomson, relating to the construction, maintenance, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and reinspection fees of buildings, including but not limited to single-family, commercial, industrial, multi-family, and public structures located within the corporate limits of the City of Thomson.
